Community Building, Parks and Environment Committee

The community building, parks and environment committee creates space for neighbors to participate in and share their community with one another. The committee works with neighbors and the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board on a variety of programs to ensure a sustainable healthy environment and a clean, vital, safe, and active system of parks.

We connect East Harriet residents through a web of events and information that builds relationships and community among neighbors, including:
•   Neighborhood events like the Kite Festival, Porch Fest, and the annual neighborhood meeting and Fall Fest
•   EHFNA's eNews
•   www.eastharriet.org - the neighborhood's up-to-date source of information

Park and Environment programs and projects include:
•  Environmental education
•  Park Board and Minneapolis Public Schools liaison
•  "Greening" of the neighborhood
•  Dutch Elm Disease and Emerald Ash Borer Rebate Programs
•  Earth Day Clean-up

How you can be involved:
Join us for Community Building, Parks and Environment Committee meetings if you have something you’d like to discuss or learn more about. The committee generally meets quarterly on the third Thursday of the scheduled month. Check back for updates as this date can change.
The next scheduled meeting can be found on our home page.

Contact info@eastharriet.org if you have an idea for a community building, parks or environment project or if you would like more information about the committee.

Minneapolis Toy Lending Library

The Minneapolis Toy Library is a toy lending program which seeks to reduce waste, foster child development and build community in the Minneapolis area. This program is for families with children ages birth to 5 years or others who have a need to supply toys to children in their lives (for example, when grandchildren visit). The library offers an opportunity for families to connect with one another through once a month lending opportunities, or to support their child’s development through play while reducing their impact on the environment. We operate as a volunteer run, donation based, mobile lending library. If you’d like more information, and to find lending events, please check out our website: mplstoylibrary.org.

A Minneapolis Toy Library volunteer is usually at the East Harriet Neighborhood FallFest in September to tell you more about their program and answer your questions.
